Vote Dan Brunet on November 2nd!

I’m Dan Brunet, Meriden City Council Minority Leader, and I’m running for re-election this year. I’m grateful to the Republican and WTP parties for their nomination.

However – no matter where you sit on the political spectrum – everyone agrees on the importance of checks and balances in government. And I’m dedicated to making sure all views are considered when making decisions in an overwhelmingly Democrat-run city.

All questions, concerns and complaints matter greatly to me and I’ll continue to serve the interest of you – the taxpayer. You can trust me to act as an agent of reason and be a good steward of your tax dollars as I have a proven track record of questioning unnecessary costs while still driving positive change. I’m proud of the economic growth my district has experienced throughout the East Main Street corridor and the infrastructure improvements related to street paving and drainage.

Diversity of perspective is key to make Meriden a better place to live, work, learn and enjoy. In addition to voting Dan Brunet in November, consider voting for the other Republican and WTP candidates to create more balance in our city government.

EDITORIAL: City Council needs to take action on review board - Record Journal

… It’s hard not to see as frustrating the decision to postpone action on a proposal to establish a Civilian Review Board in Meriden to scrutinize complaints of police misconduct and use of force. That’s not because there’s any dire involving the police, but simply because the talks have been going on for months now and it seems a little strange to hear at this point that more discussion is needed.

Dan Brunet, the council minority leader, put it that way after expecting a vote on Sept. 20. “Certainly after six months of discussion, I’m not sure what more needs to be discussed,” he said.

EDITORIAL: Popeyes plans to open on East Main Street in Meriden - Record Journal

…City Council Minority Leader Dan Brunet said he would have preferred something other than another fast food restaurant, but “any type of growth is good.” The parcel has been vacant for 15 years, and any activity especially from a national chain is welcome. He said the presence of national chains along East Main Street can open the door for sit down operations like Texas Longhorn or Wood N’ Tap.

“Hopefully, we get something in a similar fashion,” Brunet said.

EDITORIAL: Meriden City Council approves purchase of new hardware for remote meetings - Record Journal

…Dan Brunet, the council’s minority party leader, cast one of two votes against the purchase.

“I think the cost is exorbitant,” Brunet said prior to voting. “We just can’t spend on things beyond reason. $235,000 just blows me away, in this day and age, for what the function is going to be.”

Brunet said he finds the installation of such a system to be “unnecessary,” noting the limited public participation in meetings as it stands.

Vote Dan Brunet on November 7th!

I’m Dan Brunet, your Meriden Area 3 City Councilor. I am pleased to be running for re-election to continue my common-sense approach to making Meriden a better place to live.

Over my eight years in City Council, I have worked on a wide range of issues from initiating the Tree and Sidewalk Replacement Program and banning animal slaughter, to pushing for an anti-nepotism policy and analyzing multi-million dollar projects, such as the new high schools construction and downtown development.

I have kept promises to decrease sober houses, ensure that there is no auto auction and keep unnecessary spending at bay too.

As your City Councilor, I will continue to earn your vote by fighting for the taxpayers and working to improve the perception of Meriden.
